Jon, Sara, and Ellie were close friends as children. Jon and Sara married, and after having two children, Sara died, leaving Jon to raise his two children. Ellie has been a faithful friend through Sara’s illness and has cared for Jon and his children as they learn to navigate life without Sara. Ellie believes she is unmarryable because of a disability. but Sarah had known she was dying and left a note for Jon to be opened on the one year anniversary of her death. In it, she asks Jon to marry Ellie. Ellie has to overcome her insecurites. She want’s to belive Jon’s love for her is genuine but she has her doubts especially after she learns of the letter.
This is a delightful friends-to-lovers story with a bit of a marriage-of-convenience vibe. I did not realize this was part of a series, Seven Amish Sisters. I will now go back to read all the stories of Ellie’s sisters.
